Grumpy Goat:  Kreppel Time!

This is just a shout out that if you want to pick up kreppels this Tuesday at the farm store get your order into Jenn sometime tonight or tomorrow (hotplate.com/jennsbackstube). If you haven’t tried them yet, they are delicious. And it is a holiday weekend so you deserve to treat yourself!

Also for those that didn’t make it into the store last week to see we have: cabbages, tomatoes, leeks, onions, kale, chard, broccoli, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, and probably lots more.

My brain is a bit fried today though so I’m blanking on the rest of our goodies! We just got in from harvesting the last four varieties of garlic – we’ve probably harvested about 2500 heads this week. We’ll have some fresh garlic available this week though most of it will be drying in the barn for a couple weeks before we start to prep it for the market!

Foothills Market:  The Market Is Open! On the Regular Schedule

We at Foothills Market hope you had a good holiday last week. We appreciate your accommodation of the adjusted schedule last week, but now we’re back to our regular schedule for ordering and pickup.

You can also choose from sweet or savory baked goods for everything from breakfast to dessert. Shop between now and Wednesday afternoon at 5:00, when the market closes. Linwood Lamb, RC Farms, Quarter Spring Farm, Triple LLL Farm and Tailwynds Farm: all have several meat options as well as some ‘Summer Specials’

From Linwood Lamb:

Weather is warming up and so are our grills. Try some lamb on the grill for 4th of July celebration or anytime this summer. All the cuts listed under Linwood Lamb work great on the grill:
Lamb Loin Chops
Lamb Rib Chops
Lamb Leg Steaks
Feta Cheese and Lamb Sliders (My girls really like these)
Ground Lamb

If you need recipes or tips on how to cook, just ask.

As a general rule, we grill all of our lamb to a 135-140 degree F internal temperature. The thinner cuts only take 6 or 8 minutes to grill.
For the thicker cuts (rib and loin chops) I split the grill in half and put all of the charcoal on one side (hot side; direct cooking) and leave the other side empty (cool side; indirect cooking). I sear the chops on the hot side for 1 min then flip them and sear the other side of the chop for 1 minute. Then I move the chops to the cool side of the grill and let them cook indirectly with the top down for another 8-10 minutes until the temperature reaches 135. Seasonings are pretty simple: salt and pepper, and maybe a little ginger.

Terry Treasures:

Welcome back, she will be have some beautiful outdoor Spinners that can be used inside our outside. Watch for her updates.
